Former Maple City Mayor honors his late friend, public servant, and union leader
I have held back thinking and hoping that the City of Hornell or at least the City of Hornell Industrial Development Agency would acknowledge Samuel J. Nasca’s passing.
Sam was one of the founding members of the Hornell Industrial Department Agency, its first treasurer and its longtime Chairman. Mr. Nasca was involved in every economic development project ever done in Hornell in the last 40 plus years.
Sam worked quietly in the best interests of this city, never seeking the limelight or credit. He was a highly successful and admired Union activist and general chairman, legislative director for his union.
I had the honor and privilege to have worked with Sam for close to 40 years . It was a bigger honor to call him a friend. Hornell has lost two giants among men in the last 6 months James Griffin and Samuel J. Nasca. Dear friends and Hornell legends. May they rest in peace. I for one appreciated their devotion to this community.
With all due respect,
Shawn D. Hogan
Retired Mayor
City of Hornell, New York
