The Alfred Farmers Market is holding its first-ever Spring market on Sunday, April 14, from
11:00 AM until 3:00 PM, in the Union University Church Center, 29 N. Main Street in Alfred, NY.

Fourteen area farmers and artisans will set up for this event, selling everything from the
season’s first tender greens, to grass-fed beef and pastured pork, to goat’s milk soaps and
lotions, to soy candles and hand-crafted jewelry, all locally produced by people from Western
New York.

This is the fourth postseason market organized by the Alfred Farmers Market. According to Kim
Hannigan, manager of the market, “The Union University Church has welcomed the market as a
community organization and has supported our four off-season markets. The vendors are
excited to be able to maintain contact with their loyal customers during the off-season months.
And our customers will be able to use their SNAP benefits combined with FreshConnect checks
to feed their families the best local food available!”

Eligible customers can run their SNAP-EBT cards at the manager’s table and receive matching
money in the form of $2.00 FreshConnect checks (up to a total of $50/day) which can be spent
on SNAP-eligible foods at the market.
