The Steamers winning streak continues with win over Olean

The Hornell Steamers earned their 20th victory with a 7-1 win over Olean on Wednesday evening. Hornell is now 20-7-1 and have won seven straight contests.

The Steamers got on the board in the 2nd inning when Braden McLin (Louisiana Christian) hit a RBI single and scored when Nic Schwing (Holmes JC) collected a RBI single.

A solo homer to right by Michael Norton cut the lead to 2-1 in the 4th but Hornell answered with five runs of their own in the 5th. McLin collected a two-run single to center, Elijah Nichols (Arkansas State) hit a sac fly, and Jackson Legg (LSU Eunice) delivered a clutch two-run single to left.

Eli Fuselier (Nunez CC) earned his league leading fifth win with a solid effort. He allowed one run on five hits in seven innings of work. He walked just one and struck out nine. Cowan Alfonso (Louisiana Christian) struck out five and allowed just one hit in the final two innings.

Nichols was 3 for 4 with a RBI, McLin was 3 for 5, and Legg was 2 for 5 with a pair of RBI.

Hornell is back on the road on Friday for a 6:30 p.m. contest with the Horseheads Hitmen.
