The City of Hornell recently received two new ambulances for the Fire Department’s fleet. These 2024 Ford E-series models replace the older ambulances A-112 from 2015 and A-114 from 2017, each with approximately 300,000 miles.
Chief Frank Brzozowski shared insights about the vehicle selection, stating, “We worked with North Eastern Rescue Vehicles, Inc. in the past and with this purchase with great results. Our department averages 350 calls and 13,000 miles traveled every month. These Ford E-series were available in a few short months.” Brzozowski further explained, “The setup for these ambulances is the same as most of the other vehicles in the fleet, ensuring that every rig can take every call.”
The replacement vehicles will keep the fleet total at seven. With high call volumes and interfacility transfers, it’s common to have several ambulances out at a time. Maintaining a fleet in good condition is crucial to provide critical services to City residents.
Mayor John Buckley provided his thoughts regarding the purchase, stating, “Continued investment in vehicles to meet the community’s needs remains a high priority. We were fortunate to be able to purchase these vehicles, which benefits our budget by avoiding ongoing debt. Just like at home, having new vehicles ensures greater safety and reliability, as well as helps to minimize repair costs.”
The new vehicles, outfitted with the City’s new white color scheme, are anticipated to be on the road within the next couple of weeks.
