33rd Annual Kids Fishing Contest in Andover a Celebration Success

The Andover Wetlands Annual Kids Fishing Contest celebrated its 33rd     anniversary with participants from Andover as well as Ulysses, PA, Jamestown, Livonia, Addison, Alfred Station, Allentown, Almond, Angelica, Arkport, Cuba, Wellsville, Belmont, Little Genesee, Belfast, Bolivar, Hornell, Genesee, Livonia, and  Jasper.         

Special guests in attendance who assisted in handing out the trophies included,

Andover Town Supervisor Steve Martinelli along with Town Board member Mandy Joyce-Phelps also Andover Village Mayor David Truax.

Trophies were awarded in the following categories: 5 & under: First Place: Brayden Shepard of Jasper for a 9 oz 10 ¼ in Bullhead.  Second Place: Dawson Bergreen of  Cuba with a 8 1/2 in  4.0 oz Perch, Third Place: Ledger Seaman of Andover with a 2.4 oz 7 in Bullhead.

Winners in the 6 – 8 age group were: First Place: Lydia Shutt of Wellsville for a 1 lb. 12 oz  15 1/2 in Bass and Second Place Brenda Ayers of Jasper with a 12 in. 12.6 oz Bullhead  and Third Place Ostera Burnside of Ulysses, Pa for a 9 in  4.4 oz  Perch.

In the 9-11 age group: First Place  Donovan Swain of Livonia for a 13 1/2 in  15.6 oz Bass,  Second Place: Ryker Haynes of Wellsville with a 12 1/2 in  13 oz  Bass, and Third Place: Carson Shepard of Jasper for a 11 3/4 in  13 oz Bullhead.

For the 12 – 15 age group: First Place; Kaleb Clair of Arkport with a 16 1/4 in  1 lb 11 oz  Bass, Second Place: Samuel Wagner of Andover for a 15  3/4 in  1 lb 10.4 oz. Bass, Third Place: Brody Truax of Andover, for a 14 in 1 lb 1.4  oz Bass.

Trophies were also presented for Largest Fish: Keira Tierney of Wellsville for a 20 in  3 lb. 5.2 oz  Bass,  Smallest Fish:  Bentley Auman of Cuba for a 3 in .01 oz Pumpkin Seed.  Most Fish:  Dawson Swain of Livonia with 9 fish.  Other categories were won Largest Bass – Charlie Scheele of Livonia for a 2 lb  15.4  oz 19  in. Bass, the Largest Carp – Natalie Cornell of  Andover for a 2 lb  7.8 oz 17 in  Carp.
