Approximately 15,000 cans donated so far, more to come!
From “Cans for Canisteo,” Pictured are three local boys after they had just loaded and unloaded these bags of bottles n cans that were donated from Conesus ny.
Cans for Canisteo, was organized and set up by CG Garwood, Mitch Terry and his wife Teresa Terry. We set five barrels around our community and the donations haven’t stopped. So far, we’ve raised over 13,000 bottles n cans for Canisteo! Volunteers have even “adopted” 3 families in Canisteo that were affected by the floods in the beginning of August.
CG Garwood explains how the effort came to reality:
“It all started when I had posted on an our community page stating that I had been racking my brains on how I could help Canisteo. My husband Dan and I took a truck and trailer full of house hold items down and donated them to a church down there…. It may not be tons of money but it will help with food or even school supplies for their kids.”
None of this would be possible with out these two, Janet Gillmer and Heidi Willmart. Heidi owns the Bargain Barn in Canaseraga ny and she’s been helping me with all of this.
