Steuben County has passed a new cannabis regulation law, empowering the Office of Weights and Measures to address illegal marijuana shops
From Staff Reports,
The legislation, which was approved yesterday (Monday August 26th), authorizes the county’s Office of Weights and Measures to conduct inspections and potentially shut down stores operating unlawfully. Steuben County Legislative Chair Kelly Fitzpatrick spoke with WVIN News, expressing hopes that the new law will help address the growing issue of illegal cannabis outlets in the community. “Now that it’s officially enacted, we can begin inspections to possibly close down these unauthorized stores. While I had hoped for a more law enforcement-focused approach, there was strong support for this regulatory measure,” Fitzpatrick explained.
