INCIDENT: Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident
CHARGES: Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting VTL 600-2a/c(ii) Class D Felony; Criminally Negligent Homicide PL 125.10 Class E Felony
NARRATIVE: The Yates County Sheriff Office has arrested a female 26 of Penn Yan in connection with yesterday’s fatal motor vehicle accident on State Route 364 in the Town of Benton. The Sheriff’s Office, using evidence collected at the scene and interviews that were conducted, were able to locate the vehicle and driver involved. She was arrested and charged with violating New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law section 600-2a/c(ii), Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting that results in death, a Class D Felony and Penal Law section 125.10 Criminally Negligent Homicide a Class E Felony. She was arraigned in the Yates County Centralized Arraignment Part Court (CAP Court) and released on her own recognizance.
