Donald C. Pierpoint, 77, passed away on Wednesday (October 23, 2024) at home following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Pierpoint was born on January 8, 1947 in Buffalo to Reginald C. and Margaret (McCall) Pierpoint. He attended Sweet Home High School in Amherst and later earned his GED. He moved to the Wellsville area in August, 2021. On December 18, 1999 he married Betty Olivia Coleman, who predeceased him on November 28, 2014.

Donald worked for the Town of Amherst as a lab technician for 29 years, retiring in 1999.

Donald is survived by two nephews, Nathan (Julie) Pierpoint of Lockport and John (Jenny) Pierpoint of West Seneca; one grand-niece, Ila Rose Pierpoint; two step-daughters, TaQuesha Palmer and LaShonda Foster; and his large Jehovah Witness family.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert “Bob” Norman Pierpoint.

Donald loved the Bible and enjoyed sharing it with others. The highpoint of his life happened on February 10, 1974 when he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He served for over 30 years in the volunteer ministry as a regular pioneer.

Donald was extremely generous and loved people. After moving to the Wellsville area, he was a common fixture at McDonald’s and Burger King and enjoyed interacting with the local patrons. With no children of his own, he was very interested in the happiness of his nephews, his stepdaughters, and the children at the Kingdom Hall. He often brought gifts as a way of showing his fatherly affection. He also enjoyed snapping pictures of his friends and turning them into a wrapped gift. Many of his friends are recipients of his famous coffee mugs with their picture on the side. Donald will be remembered by friends as one who put the interests and needs of others ahead of his own.

There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 17, at 3:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 115 Chamberlain Street in Wellsville.

Memorial donations in Donald’s name may be made to the Wellsville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, P.O. Box 467, Wellsville, NY 14895.
