Andover man reminds of December 7 and thanks his local heroes
OPINION By Nicholas Scott, photo from the National Park Service
Here we are again. Today is Pearl Harbor remembrance day.
Roosevelt said December 7th, 1941 would be a day to live in infamy. And yet I see less and less memorial services, news coverage, and hear less and less conversations about the day that our country was bombed as our men were sleeping in their bunks.
This day is the day we were thrown into WWII. Once the bombs started to drop and the bullets started to fly, our men burned, drowned, were and still are trapped underwater. Along with our Navy; our air fields were bombed, hospitals were bombed as they were still having injured men and women brought into them for treatment.
We were supposed to never forget this day and yet we are. How long till we start to forget about 911, Boston bombing, or any other tragedy this country has endured?

For my birthday I want you to thank at least one veteran that’s served or is serving. So I wanted to thank my dad, Steven Scott Sr., my brother Brendan Schweigart (shot), my uncle Robert Mick Mars Harding (suffered IED), my uncle Terry Scott, one of my oldest friends Nathan Adams , my old high school history teacher Will Brown , Shain Matison , Jordan Bryan, Daniel Brown, Emma Terhune , TK Marie and every single man and woman who have served and are currently serving.
Thank you all for your service.
