Nancy J. Emerson, 85, formerly of Allegany County

Nancy J. Emerson, a cherished mother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully, after a lengthy illness, at the home of her daughter in Bonita Springs, Fla., on March 7, 2025. Born on June 15, 1941, Nancy lived a life marked by generosity, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those around her. Nancy was predeceased by her father, Harold Taylor, her mother, Katherine Peters, and 2 sisters, Marjorie See and Laura Antico.

Nancy’s passion for the Buffalo Bills was evident to all who knew her. Her contributions to the Belmont American Legion Post 808, where she served as the Women’s Auxiliary Chaplain, and the Wellsville Elks Lodge #1495, were celebrated and will be remembered for years to come. Beyond her professional achievements, where she retired from the New York State Insurance Fund, Nancy was a devoted and loving mother to John (Laura) Whittaker, Blair (Colleen) Emerson, and Pam (Bill) Krenceski, a grandmother to 11, as well as 9 great grandchildren, and a dear friend to many.

Her warmth, wisdom, and caring nature left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Nancy’s legacy includes countless moments of joy and inspiration that she shared generously with her family, friends, and colleagues.

In her free time, Nancy loved golf, bowling, cooking and baking, often sharing these passions with friends and loved ones. Her ability to find beauty and joy in everyday life was truly remarkable.

Nancy’s presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Cuba cemetery on April 19th, 2025 at 11:00am, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Belmont American Legion, Post 808.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Nancy’s lifelong commitment to helping others.

Nancy J. Emerson will be remembered for her boundless love, her remarkable achievements, and her unwavering kindness. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
