Come to Main Street early for a 5pm parade start
From the Allegany County Ancient Order of Hibernians,
After a long cold winter are you ready for some warm mid 60s local weather amidst a sea of Emerald Green and Blarney? If so head to Mid-Town Wellsville, NY where the 3rd Annual Worlds Shortest Saint Patricks Day Parade sponsored by the Allegany County Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) will happen starting with a 5 pm kick off after the parade Units start marshaling at 4 pm! Emma Maglier will sing the national Anthem to start the parade at 5 PM followed with presentation of the colors by the Wellsville American Legion Auxiliary Color Guard, Unit 702. Grand Marshall and AOH member Mike McCullough and his wife Kay will along with Andover Piper Stephen Walker lead 3 Local AOH Divisions from Allegany County, Steuben County and Cattaraugus County plus the Steuben County LAOH Division .

Be sure to arrive early and stay late in Downtown Wellsville as all the local Restaurants and pubs are ready to serve hungry and thirsty spectators including Shane Vogel’s Stillwater Grill on Main Street with his outdoor Irish patio seating. L’Italia (which is at Ground Zero of the Shortest Parade) , The Texas Hot, The Beef Haus and all the local Service clubs also are all ready for the blarney and festivities to begin! Wellsville Brewing which just now has new owners, may be open for light food and soft drinks so stop in and say hello to the new owners-The Mariotti family.
AOH Event Co-organizer Brian Cannon notes “The Weather this Friday is expected to be in the mid 60s (vs 44 degrees F in Dublin Ireland) with plenty of sun so it is a great day to be Irish and outside in Western New York State to kick off the Saint-Patrick’s Day Weekend! The Village of Wellsville painted the 12 foot long parade route in green and it is ready for the World’s Shortest Saint Patrick’s Day parade and we thank the Village for their continued support of this great parade to celebrate our local and worldwide Irish heritage! Other parades claim to be the shortest at 98 feet, 86 feet but when you do the math our 12 foot long parade route is the Worlds Shortest Saint Patrick’s day parade Route! If you forgot to wear the green, stop into Nancy Hart’s Main Street Irish Shop which conveniently located at the end finish line of the 12 foot parade at the corner of Main and Eaton Court in the Center of Wellsville.”
The Local group Shenanigan Sisters, aka Brew Witches, have a new spellbinding routine this year and you may actually see it twice! Nick Davis of Genesee Valley Media will be at the parade with his aerial drones to livestream this unique parade and will upload to his You Tube Channel.
