Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Bath Rotary Club hope to inspire future farmers

This week is a big one for our community, as agriculture remains one of the strongest pillars of Steuben County, NY —rooted deep in our history, economy, and way of life. Today, I had the incredible opportunity to visit second graders in both the Bath Haverling and Hammondsport school districts, sharing the importance of agriculture through education and storytelling.
Alongside my fellow Bath New York Rotary Club Rotarians, we helped these young minds understand just how vital agriculture is to our daily lives—from the food on our tables to the clothes on our backs. Moments like these remind us that the future of farming and sustainability starts with education, and there’s no better way to invest in our future than by inspiring the next generation.
A huge thank you to the Bath Rotary Club for their unwavering support and encouragement, and to my good friend Tess McKinley and her amazing team at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County for leading the charge in promoting agricultural literacy.
Let’s all take a moment to appreciate our hardworking farmers, educators, and community leaders who keep our agricultural roots strong. Together, we grow!
