Steuben County hosts DEA Take Back Day to safely dispose of unused prescription medications.
This Saturday, April 26, Steuben County residents have a valuable opportunity to take a simple action that can make a major impact. In recognition of National DEA Prescription Drug Take Back Day, community members are invited to safely dispose of unwanted, expired, or unused medications.
The event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Steuben County Public Safety Building, located at 7007 Rumsey Street Extension in Bath. It’s a no-questions-asked, judgment-free chance to clean out your medicine cabinets and help protect your loved ones and neighbors.
Why is this important? Improper storage or disposal of prescription drugs can lead to accidental poisoning, misuse, or abuse—particularly among teens and young adults. By simply turning in medications you no longer need, you’re helping reduce the risk of addiction and ensuring that potentially dangerous substances don’t fall into the wrong hands.
The initiative is part of a nationwide effort to curb prescription drug abuse and promote public safety. It’s one more way the community can come together to build a healthier, safer Steuben County.
Take a moment this Saturday to make a difference—drop off your unused prescriptions and be part of the solution.
