The Class C State Qualifier meet was held today at the Bath-Haverling High School. During the opening remarks the Devin Snyder awards were handed out to the class C1, C2, and C3 track and field athletes based on their wins at the Sectional meets held the previous week. Brynna Wilkinson was awarded the track athlete award for class C1 due to her outstanding performances in the 2000 meter steeplechase and the 800.
Brynna was the first Hornell athlete on the track today and punched her ticket to the state meet in Middletown next week. She won the Steeplechase in a time of 7:20.19. Following her performance was the girls 4×100 relay team of Riley Harwood, Maura Khork, Ella White, and Selena Maldonado. Their fast performance today led two other teams chasing top marks to hit the super standard and finish just behind Hornell in 2nd and 3rd place. Hornell ran a time of 49.41. They have now run under :50 two weeks in a row!
Ella White had two great performances allowing her to claim a spot in the 100 and the 200 at the state meet. Her 100 time was 12.26 and her 200 time was 25.46.
Others competing today at the State Qualifier meet were Elisa Bodin in the 1500 (5:30.11) and 3000 (12:10.39), Madison Rudenauer in the 400 hurdles (1:13.63), Mayleigh Martin in the long jump (17’2″), Parker Graham in the 400 hurdles (1:14.21) and in the 4×400 relay (4:19.59) along with Maura Khork, Delainey Thompson, and Silvia Carretto. Delainey Thompson also cleared 5′ in the high jump and ran 1:11.90 in the 400 hurdles and Silvia Carretto ran in the open 400 (1:02.89).
Cole Hopper and Demayne Dixon represented the boys team today. Cole ran in the 200 (23.89) and Demayne was in the high jump (5’6″) and the 100 (11.36).
