Hornell – 6, Bishop Kearney – 1

The Hornell Red Raiders improve to 3-0 after their 6-1 win in their home opener against Bishop Kearney/Chesterton/Archangel Tuesday night.

The Red Raiders got on the board early, just 5 minutes into the game, when Wyatt Evingham battled through several defenders to score his first of two goals in the Hornell win.  Just 4 minutes later, Demayne Dixon sent a long direct kick toward the goal, connecting with Gabe Rasephei to put Hornell up 2-0.

With 25 minutes to go in the half, Hornell’s Ryan Harkenrider sent a beautiful corner kick into play, setting up Evingham’s second goal of the night.  Jayden Rasephei put the Red Raiders up 4-0 at the half with a goal off a cross from Evingham.

With 33 minutes left in the game, Gabe Rasephei sent a ball through several defenders, setting up Marco Picco’s breakaway goal.  Angel Mota rounded out the scoring for the Red Raiders.

Nick Gray, Demayne Dixon, Ryan Harkenrider, Wyatt Evingham, Gabriel Rasephei, and Austin Mead each tallied an assist for Hornell.

Bishop Kearney’s Calvin Thomas scored the lone goal for the Kings.

“We played a stong game against a good BK team,” commented Hornell head coach, Jim Tobin.  “Our offense, led by Wyatt Evingham and the Rasephei brothers, produced a ton of offense.  Marco Picco and Cody Cardamone controlled our midfield, and our defense was solid, led by Nick Gray, Demayne Dixon, Ryan Harkenrider, and Logan Weitzel.”

Hornell has a big game coming up this Thursday in Maple City Park as they host LCAA D1 rival, the Livonia Bulldogs.  Both Hornell and Livonia are 3-0 so far this season.
