Bridge Closure Notice – County Route 21, Town of Canisteo
BATH, NY – Eric Rose, Commissioner of Public Works for Steuben County, has announced that the bridge on County Route 21 (Canisteo-Rathbone Road), over Spaulding Hollow, between State Route 36 and County Route 30 (Swale Road), in the Town of Canisteo, will be closed to all through traffic on Thursday, September 25th, and Friday, September 26th, 2025.
The bridge, designated No. 21-01, BIN 3334680, will undergo testing as core samples are taken in preparation for a new bridge design.
Please note that there will not be an on-site detour available. Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes in advance.

Department of Public Works Announces Temporary Bridge Closure on County Route 119
Bath, NY September 10th 2025 – Eric Rose, Commissioner of the Steuben County Department of Public Works, has announced that the bridge on County Route 119 (short 119) over the Canisteo River, located between State Route 36 and County Route 128 (Canisteo – Canisteo Center Road) in the Town of Canisteo, will be closed to all through traffic on Monday, October 7th and Tuesday, October 8th, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The closure is necessary to perform structural maintenance work on the bridge, identified as Bridge No. 119-01 (BIN 3334380).
There will be no on-site detour during the closure period. Motorists are advised to plan accordingly and seek alternate routes.
The Department of Public Works appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as this essential maintenance is completed.
