Hornell boys, #1 in the state, #1 in Section V, but have a rugged bracket to win another Section V title

The Hornell boys Soccer team finished the 2025 regular season with an undefeated record and earned the Number one seed in Class B as they look for a Three-Peat. The Red Raiders (14-0-2) will receive a first-round bye. They will host either No.8 Penn Yan or No.9 North Rose-Wolcott on Saturday October 25th. 

The Red Raiders have tied league Rivals Wayland-Cohocton and Dansville this season but have won hard fought battles with LCAA nemesis Livonia winning both matchups with the Bulldogs 1-0. They also had two tough games with the Rivals from Leroy/Cal-Mum. They could See Dansville, Livonia or Bath-Haverling in the Semifinals but wouldn’t see Wayland-Cohocton or Leroy/Cal-Mum until the Sectional finals.

Hornell has outscored their opponents 60-4 this season, have posted 12 shutouts on the season have shutout their last six opponents. They haven’t allowed a goal since September 25th 1-1 tie with Wayland-Cohocton. 

Senior Wyatt Evingham leads the Red Raiders with 21 Goals and 11 assists. Senior Marco Picco has 11 goals and 4 Assists. Senior Goalie Alfie Whitley has only allowed two goals all season and leads all of Section Five with a 0.14 Goals against average. He has 35 saves in 1110 minutes played. 

Bath-Haverling is the No.4 Seed, Matt Hill has his Rams back in contention with an 11-3-1 Record. Sophomore Connor Binkowski leads the Rams with 12 goals and 1 assist. Sophomore Seth Rounds has 5 goals and 5 assists. 

Wayland-Cohocton is the No.6 Seed; the Golden Eagles are 10-5-1 and have shown they can play with the Top Seed Red Raiders. Junior Alex Fedorchuk leads the team with 20 Goals and 1 assist. Senior Carl George Baverstock has 10 Goals and 17 Assists. 

Dansville is the No. 12 Seed at 3-12-1 but tied 0-0 with the No.1 Seed Hornell Red Raiders back on September 29th after losing 9-1 to Hornell on September 8th. Senior Jacob Kreiley leads the Mustangs with 12 Goals and 8 Assists. Junior Isaac Kurtz has 7 goals and 2 Assists. 

Semifinals will be held Wednesday October 29th, the Championship game will be held November 1st at HFL.
