DOUBLE GALLERY: Boys and girls down North Rose Wolcott in quarterfinals

Hornell – 5, North Rose Wolcott – 0
Hornell star goalie, Alfie Whiteley, tallied his 15th shutout of the season as the Hornell Red Raiders beat North Rose Wolcott 5-0 in the Class B quarterfinal match Saturday evening at Maple City Park.
Senior standout, Wyatt Evingham had 2 goals and 3 assists in the Red Raider win.
Also scoring for Hornell was Gabriel Rasephei, Cody Cardamone, and Anatole Colson. Marco Picco tallied one assist in the win.
Alfie Whiteley had 2 saves on the night, and backup keeper, Nash Adams, had 3 saves on the night.
“We had a great opening round,” commented Hornell coach Jim Tobin. “We came out strong and controlled the game right away. Wyatt Evingham put on a great show. His 2 goals and 3 assists led the way. Our midfielders were able to control the game. We were led there by Marco Picco, Cody Cardamone, Anatole Colson, and Gabreil Rasephei. Our defense recorded their 7th straight shoutout.”
With Saturday’s win, the Red Raiders improve to 15-0-2. They will take on the Livonia Bulldogs in the semifinal match this Wednesday at 5:30pm in Dansville. Livonia is the #5 seed in Section V Class B and improved to 10-7-0 with their 2-1 victory of the Haverling Rams on Saturday.
Hornell Lady Raiders Soccer Club got the win tonight over North Rose-Wolcott Central School District in the Section V Girls Soccer quarterfinals.
Lady Raiders 7 – Cougars 0.
Parker Graham started the scoring, notching the first two tallies for the Red Raiders. Brynna Wilkinson added a 3rd first half marker on an assist from Mayleigh Martin.
Raegan Evingham would then put things entirely out of reach after halftime with a 15 minute hat-trick, including two goals on headers. Wilkinson would round out the scoring with a strike from 30 yards almost half way through the second stanza.
Adi Connors and Chloe Conner combined for the shutout. The girls will head to Dansville for Semifinal action on Tuesday evening against Livonia.
