Corning, NY – The United Way of the Southern Tier (UWST) is actively accepting monetary donations to bolster food pantries in Chemung and Steuben counties as they face a surge in demand.

According to UWST President & CEO Maleaha Smith, many area families are struggling to make ends meet and the pantries are seeing increased requests for assistance. Because pantries are able to buy food at significantly discounted prices, donated dollars go much further than donated goods alone.

UWST has pledged that 100 % of all gifts received under this effort will be directed to pantries in the two counties.

Donations by check can be mailed to:

United Way of the Southern Tier
88 E. Tioga Ave., Ste. 102
Corning, NY 14830
Be sure to include “Food Help” in the memo line.

Those who prefer to donate food items or volunteer time are encouraged to contact their local pantry or visit UWST’s volunteer portal. https://www.uwst.org/news/united-way-southern-tier-accepting-monetary-donations-local-pantries
