Republican and Democratic candidates come together on March 3 and 4 in WNY

From Jim King For Congress and Aaron Gies for Congress NY23

Angola and Alden, NY — In a rare display of cross-party cooperation, Republican challenger Jim King and Democratic challenger Aaron Gies are joining forces this March to address what they describe as a “current lack of leadership in Congress”. Sponsored by the non-partisan group Good Neighbors Getting it Done in WNY, these upcoming community discussions aim to move past hyper-partisanship and focus on viable alternatives for New York’s 23rd District.

The “Good Neighbors” forum series will host two local events:

  • Angola: Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Evans Center Fire Hall (8298 Erie Rd/Rte 5).
  • Alden: Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Alden Community Center (13116 W. Main Street).

Both events begin with refreshments and a “meet and greet” at 6:30 PM, followed by a formal program at 7:00 PM where residents can ask questions directly to the candidates.

A Platform of Moderation and Accountability

The town halls represent a central pillar of Jim King’s “moderate Republican” campaign. King has consistently called for a return to productive moderation and constitutional accountability, often highlighting issues that resonate across party lines. His platform includes proposals for:

  • Economic Stability: Establishing a federal minimum wage for a 40-hour work week set at 125% of the poverty level.
  • Government Integrity: Increasing punishments for “material lies” propagated by government officials and reclaiming Congressional war powers.
  • Future Energy: Prioritizing the development of commercial-scale nuclear fusion to ensure long-term energy independence.

Voters React to “Integrity and Respect”

The collaborative nature of these town halls is already drawing praise from a diverse range of constituents.

“Thank you for bringing integrity, respect, and moderation to your campaign,” said CB, a resident of Tioga County. “I appreciate your thoughtful platform”.

LAK, a self-identified “moderate Democrat,” echoed this sentiment, stating, “I’d vote for this moderate Republican”.

As the 2026 primary season approaches, these town halls offer NY-23 voters a unique opportunity to evaluate candidates who are willing to “come together” to find solutions for the district’s most pressing challenges.

23rd District incumbent Congressman Nick Langworthy (R) has not responded to an invitation to participate in these non-partisan town hall discussions.
