St. James Hospital is proud to announce the official ribbon cutting for its second state-of-the-art mammography machine, now fully installed and available to serve patients throughout the region. This important technology investment represents a significant step forward in expanding access to high-quality breast imaging services close to home.
With the new system fully operational, St. James Hospital is providing prompt appointment access, allowing patients to schedule screenings within two weeks. Advanced mammography technology delivers enhanced image clarity and greater precision, while also offering a more comfortable experience, helping to support earlier detection and improved patient outcomes.
St. James Hospital extends sincere gratitude to the St. James Foundation Board, whose leadership and fundraising efforts helped make this important investment in women’s health possible. Their commitment to advancing local healthcare ensured that this technology could be brought to the Hornell community.
The installation of the new mammography machine is part of a broader upgrade to women’s imaging at St. James Hospital. Additional improvements include:
- Upgraded Ultrasound Units: All ultrasound systems have received a maximizer upgrade equipped with the latest imaging software, ensuring enhanced clarity and diagnostic accuracy across the department.
- Expanded Breast Imaging Services: St. James continues to offer breast biopsies, pending radiologist availability, allowing more comprehensive breast care to be delivered locally and reducing the need for patients to travel for specialized procedures.
