Free concert will feature Broadway show tunes and “Young Artist Awards”

From HAWE,

ARKPORT, NY – 2 PM, SATURDAY, MARCH 28th is the time and place for The Hornell Area Wind Ensemble’s next dazzling concert!  This will be an afternoon performance at a different location once again as the ensemble remains on the road due to the on-going renovations at their home venue of Hornell High School.

Your ears will be tingling to many recognizable tunes including those from John Lennon, Barry Manilow, selections from the Broadway Hits “Hamilton” and “Wicked.”

As an added bonus, HAWE’s March Concert features their annual Young Artist Awards Concert.  Each year two outstanding area student musicians are chosen by auditioning in front of HAWE judges. All the contestants exhibit tremendous talent making the decision tough! This year’s winner is Adam Ford, a sophomore at Alfred Almond High School. Adam plays percussion in the Senior High Band and Jazz Band. He will be playing a marimba solo!  Runner Up is Evelyn Chapman, a junior at Fillmore Central School. She has twelve years of experience playing several musical instruments.  Evelyn will be performing on her alto sax.  Both talented young winners are awarded monetary scholarships.

Invite your friends and bring your entire family to an afternoon of uplifting music in the comforts and acoustics of the Arkport Performing Arts Center, this Saturday, March 28th.  Also pencil in their Memorial Day Concert on your calendars in Arkport on May 23rd as well!  For more information, visit their website at hornellareawindensemble.org.
