The Eagles shutout the Raiders in the season opener

Hornell ballplayers traveled to Wayland-Cohocton yesterday for the season opener. Let’s be honest, the Eagles overwhelmed the Raiders as both boys and girls teams were scoreless.

Boys: Hornell – 0, Way-Co – 11
The Wayland-Cohocton Eagles scored 11 runs in the fourth inning to defeat the Hornell Red Raiders in their season opener on the road Monday evening.
Orion Walker and Ethan Bauer each collected two hits for Wayland-Cohocton. Ethan Mehlenbacher, Kameren Lantz, and Ethan Bauer each drove in two runs.
Hayden Wolfanger earned the win for Wayland-Cohocton. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out 10 and walking none.
Julian King pitched three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on six hits, striking out five and walking two for the Red Raiders. Nash Adams and Nicholas Gray each collected one hit for Hornell.
Wayland-Cohocton improves to 2-1 on the season, while the Red Raiders sit at 0-1.
The Red Raiders will host the Haverling Rams on Tuesday.
