Rushford – Deborah A. Aumick passed away Friday, Apr 3, 2026. Deb, the daughter of Lester Young and Phyllis Young, was born Aug 17, 1947.
Deb loved to travel, especially to visit her family and friends. She has begun her greatest, and last journey to see her baby son (Jeremy Aumick), parents, brother (Dale), and beloved pets.
Deb was a baby boomer and came of age during the 1960’s and 70’s. She thought she wanted a career in law but gravitated toward working with kids. She was a high school Social Studies teacher in Endicott, worked in a day care in Rochester, had her own day care business in Scio and was a juvenile probation officer for more than 10 years. Even when she went on to work in government, she continued to volunteer with teens and smaller kids at The Rock Youth Center in Rushford.
Deb leaves behind her brother Dana (Ginger) Young, sister Dorinda Rulle, her daughter Janna (Tom) Abell, her son, Joel (Maura) Buchanan and her beloved grandchildren Thomas and Madeline Abell and Teddy, Taylor, and Madison Buchanan, a niece, nephews, and many close friends and neighbors.
Deb always said she was wealthy because of her family.
The funeral will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Deb’s name can be made to The Rock, 8928 Lower St., Rushford, NY 14777.
