7pm meeting on “proposed tax accommodations” will be held at the North Dansville Town Hall

By Andrew Harris

The Livingston County Industrial Development Agency will hold a public hearing to discuss the upcoming solar project in North Dansville NY this Tuesday April 14.

A solar farm just under thirty acres is planned for 9239 Main Street, North Dansville NY and the meeting is a chance for the public to make comment about “tax accommodations,” for the project. The public notice of this hearing was printed in the Livingston County News but is not available on the LCIDA website. Requests for a digital copy were not responded to in time for publishing, here is photo of the notice:

Local opposition to the project has been a constant, the town of North Dansville has passed a moratorium on solar, wind, and battery storage projects in 2022(read that local law here). NYS’s regulating agency, ORES, has used the legal powers vested by NYS, to override that local decisions and approve the projects for construction regardless of “home rule.”

Local Joe Coburn is one who opposes the project and proposed “tax accommodations,” and hopes the community will show up in person:

“If you oppose “big government” steamrolling our local home rule or have concerns about the upcoming solar project, we need you at tomorrow’s meeting. We have the power of numbers, but only if we use them,” said Coburn on social media.
