New outdoor 100 meter dash record after 36 years!

𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐀 𝐖𝐇𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐒𝐄𝐓𝐒 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐇𝐇𝐒 𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐃𝐎𝐎𝐑 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐊 𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐃! Hornell junior 𝐄𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 broke a 36 year old Hornell High School Track record in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.18! The previous record stood since 1990 at a time of 12.2 set by Hornell Sports Hall of Famer 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐥.
Saturday’s Tiger Invitational in Warsaw saw several Hornell athletes hit top marks. 𝐔𝐫𝐢𝐣𝐚𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭 took first place in the discus throw with a throw of 120′ 02″ and fifth in the shot put throwing 34′ 01″. The boy’s 4×400 team of 𝐄𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐭 𝐊𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐬, 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫, 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐲𝐧𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐱𝐨𝐧, and 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐧 took third (4:15.70). Cole also took third in the 200 (24.5), and Demayne took fifth (24.9). Rounding out the points for the boys team, Conner placed third in the 800 with a time of 2:16.8.
On the ladies side, 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐨 placed first in the long jump (16’7″) and third in triple jump (32’3″). She was also part of the winning 4×400 relay team (4:32) along with 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐬𝐨𝐧, 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐯𝐲𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐬𝐨𝐧 and 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐨. Delainey also placed second in the 400 hurdles (1:13.40), and her sister Davvyn took second in the open 400 (1:07.10). 𝐄𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 placed first in the 200 (26.9). 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐧 ran to a third place title in the 3000 (11:55.20) and then another third place spot in the 1500 (5:38.00). 𝐑𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝 took fifth in the long jump (13’10.5″), 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐬𝐨𝐧 was sixth in the 400 hurdles (1:20.7) and 𝐌𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐚 𝐊𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐤 was sixth in the 200 (30.1). Next both the boys and girls teams are away at LeRoy on Tuesday.
