From Steuben County,
BATH, NY — Steuben County Public Works Commissioner Eric Rose has announced the temporary closure of the County Route 46 bridge over Kurtz Hollow in the Town of Dansville as part of a major bridge reconstruction project.
Beginning May 26, 2026, the bridge located on County Route 46 (South Dansville Road), between Hartman Road and Harold Lander Road, will be closed to all through traffic for approximately 14 weeks. The structure, identified as Bridge No. 46-07 (BIN 3333730), will undergo a complete rebuild featuring new concrete abutments and concrete deck beams.
There will not be an on-site detour available during construction. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour route utilizing County Route 53, County Route 48, and County Route 47. Appropriate signage will be placed throughout the area to assist travelers.
Steuben County officials encourage residents, emergency services, school transportation providers, and travelers to plan accordingly and allow for additional travel time during the duration of the project.
The County thanks the public for their patience and cooperation as improvements are made to enhance the long-term safety and reliability of the county’s transportation infrastructure.
