Del W. Jackson, 67, passed away on Tuesday ( June 16, 2026) at Jones Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Del was born on March 24, 1959 in Hornell to James H. and Doris A. (Updyke) Jackson. He was a 1977 graduate of Andover Central School.
Del worked in maintenance and in other capacities for A & M Bowling Center in Wellsville for 30 years.
Del is survived by two sisters, Kim Haswell of Andover and Brenda Everett of Grovetown, Ga.; two brothers, James C. Jackson of Andover and Jay (Amanda) Jackson of Jasper; 10 nieces and nephews; and several grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Betty Matison and two brothers-in-law, Daniel Haswell and Jeffrey Everett.
Nicknamed the Anchor Man by his bowling team, Del loved to bowl. His work allowed for ample practice and he participated in countless tournaments over the years. He also loved to ride his recumbent bicycle, riding to Wellsville and the many streets and roads of Andover.
Another favorite pastime of Del’s was camping. Dubbed Del’s Landing by his family, he often set up his tent on the end of Jackson Road, stoked the campfire and enjoyed the solitude of sleeping under the stars.
Del never complained, even during his end of life care. He had a good sense of humor and possessed a caring personality.
There will be no prior visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at Del’s Landing on Sunday (June 21) at 2:00 p.m. His ashes will be laid to rest beside his parents in Valley Brook Cemetery in Andover.
