Cooling off in Keuka Lake during heat wave
Photo journal By Janie Ferguson,
It is currently seventy-seven degrees, and sunny here this morning at 8:30 am With an expected high of eighty-nine today, as the “Extreme Heat Warning” continues today here in the Cameron Mills, NY area.

I begin this week with a colorful bluejay adding to our country’s colors surrounding him this July 3, 2026, and a refreshing view of our grandchildren cooling off in Keuka Lake during this heat dome that has come through Steuben County. It is great swimming weather if you don’t get too much sun, and stay hydrated.

Next an alert, male, rose-breasted grosbeak searching for sunflower seeds, and brothers continuing to enjoy outdoor time together, in the cool waters of Keuka Lake.

I end today with a lovely, female Baltimore oriole, above my feeders, as she watches all around her waiting her turn at the grape jelly below.

As tomorrow is July 4, 2026, the 250th Anniversary of Independence Day here in the US, I wish you all a safe and enjoyable weekend. I continue to be thankful that we still do live in the “Land of the Free” and the “Home of the Brave.”
Have a good day, JanieĀ
