Members of the Bath Rotary Club participated on July 20 in the Camp STAR Golf Tournament, held on the greens of the Indian Hill Golf Course. The local club’s golfers included: Nancy Latour, Bath Rotary Club President; Brandi Graham, Bath Rotary Club Past President; Jay Maslyn, Bath Rotary Club Treasurer; Woody Latour, Friend of Bath Rotary Club; Carolyn Godlewski, Kellie Okoniewski, and Michael Okoniewski, friends of Graham and Latour. Graham won closest to the pin for women, and Okoniewski had an 83-yard chip in for women.
All of the local golfers expressed that they had a great time not only playing golf but also winning some door prizes and sharing the experience with other Rotarians. They extend a special thank you to Marianne Kalec, Camp STAR Golf Tournament Chairperson, for the countless hours she spent organizing and running the very successful event.
Nancy Latour, who serves as President of the Camp STAR Board, stated that the event, including sponsorships, raised over $35,000.00 to support Camp STAR to be held August 9 – 14 on the scenic and rural setting of The Y at Watson Woods outside of Painted Post.
The cost for the camp is over $700.00 per camper for six days and nights of fun. The funds, raised from this tournament and the assessment of Rotary District 7120 clubs which support this summer sleepover camp, allow the projected sixty-five children between the ages of 6 and 12, who have a physical or developmental disability, to attend the camp at no charge to their families. The camp will be staffed by thirty counselors and a camp nurse. Bath Rotarians will also provide a picnic for the campers during the week of the camp.
