K9 Ribo served with Deputy Chad Betts, retiring in 2023
Francis E. Ryan, Sheriff
It is with deep regret that we report the passing of retired K9 Ribo, who died peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
K9 Ribo served the Yates County Sheriff’s Office and his community courageously for 7 years. During those 7 years, Ribo and his partner Deputy Chad Betts played an instrumental role in narcotics detection, evidence recovery, tracking and handler protection. Those who got to meet Ribo knew the drive he had to work, the courage to complete each task presented to him and the loyalty he had to his handler.
Ribo retired from service in 2023 and enjoyed his well-earned time off with the Betts family. Ribo will be missed by all, our department, the community and his family.
To Ribo, a heart felt THANK YOU for your service.
