With a long reputation of being one of the premier autumn outdoor events in New York’s Southern Tier, RidgeWalk & Run is one of a kind. Appealing to all levels of fitness, participants select from five (5) walking choices; 2mi. (road), 2mi. (guided trail), 6 mi., 9 mi., or 15 mi. (25K) trail or three trail competitions, 5K, 10K or the event’s gem, the gorgeous but greuling 25K “Ridge”.
In cooperation with over fifty landowners, all trail participants are granted a unique “one day” pass; allowing them to traverse along linked parcels of privately owned trails, which provide some of Allegany County’s most breathtaking vistas. All event choices finish on a rural equestrian farm. The festive finish line tent treats all participants to a warm lunch, live music, health and wellness exhibits.
“The success of the RidgeWalk – and the reason we are still here to celebrate after more than 30 years – is because of our volunteers, our participants, and our sponsors. We’re so grateful to each and every person who is involved in making this event such a huge success,” stated Suzy Male, Marketing Director at Jones Memorial and Co-Chairman of the event.
Rich Shear, Trail Chair and Co-Founder of Ridgewalk added, “We’re really excited this year to introduce some big changes to the 5K and 10K trails, as well as the ascent portions of the 6 mile, 9 mile and 25K. Gradual ascents, new water features and downhill starts – we’re confident that our participants will love the new changes!”
Swag bags and limited edition race T-shirts are limited and sell out quickly. Discounted registration is available through September 20th. Online registration closes October 12 but day of registration will be available. For more information, visit Ridgewalk.com. And stay current with the event by liking “RidgeWalk & Run” on Facebook.
ABOUT RIDGEWALK & RUN
The proceeds from the RidgeWalk & Run are used to support and provide a variety of initiatives that encourage community health and wellness in a number of ways. In addition to providing free wellness screenings at events throughout the community, RidgeWalk monies have been used to purchase blood pressure machines and hydration stations at both JMH and the Wellsville YMCA. Most recently, Jones Memorial donated over $40,000 to area food banks over the last several years from funds collected at the Ridgewalk and GLOW Run events.
