From the Hornell Police Department

It is with deep sadness that the Hornell Police Department learned of the passing of retired Officer Raymond F. Khork.

Following his honorable service in the military, Raymond began his law enforcement career with the Hornell Police Department on January 6, 1971. After completing his initial training, Officer Khork worked a variety of shifts and assignments throughout his career.

Officer Khork was recognized for his positive involvement with many cases he worked spanning his employment. One letter preserved in his personnel file, written by the parents of a troubled youth, thanking him for his kindness and work in assisting this boy. They cited what a positive impact he had on them and praised him and the Hornell Police Department.

In September 1984, Officer Khork became the firearms instructor for our agency. In support of this responsibility, he successfully completed instructor training at both the state level and through the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). For many years, Officer Khork trained and retrained members of our department, and at times, officers from surrounding police agencies.

Officer Khork retired from the Hornell Police Department on April 12, 2003. We are indebted to Office Khork for his diligent service to our department and the community.

We extend our sincere condolences and heartfelt gratitude to his wife, Nancy, and his children, Kelly, Thomas, and Timothy, for their support throughout his career and service to our community.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 23, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home, 285 Main Street, Hornell, NY.

With deepest sympathy,

Chief T.J. Murray
