The City of Hornell would like to inform all water customers to be on the lookout for a mailer regarding your water service line inventory. The mailer is expected to arrive on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
This mailer, sent by the City of Hornell, will ask you to verify the material of your water service line. We want to reassure residents that this is an important request from the City, and your participation is greatly appreciated.
The purpose of this inventory is to assist in planning a City-wide lead service line replacement program. We encourage all residents to complete the survey and, if possible, submit responses electronically using the link or QR code provided in the mailer. You may also fill out the form and return it in person to City Hall.
The mailer includes instructions on how to check the material of your water service line, which may be copper, plastic, galvanized steel, or possibly lead. The goal of this project is to identify lead service lines in preparation for future replacement.
