The Hornell Red Raiders football team had a dominating 37-14 win over Livonia Friday night at Maple City Park.
The offense was the result of coach Izzy Mehr’s defensive unit. With no score, Austyn Gollnitz dropped the Livonia QB for a sack and a 13-yard loss.
With the Bulldogs having to throw, Dylan Czarnecki tipped the ball in the air away from the receiver into the arms Matthew Karr, who raced to the 2-yard-line return to set up the first score.
Gollnitz scored his first touchdown on a 10-yard run and then took the conversion run himself for an 8-0 lead.
Livonia got within 8-6 up but a nice drive was capped off by a 15-yard run by Hornell quarterback Brody Flaitz.
Flaitz scored again on a 5-yard run and a conversion run by Gollnitz gave Hornell a 22-6 lead in the third.

With 8:47 left in the game, Hornell’s Landon Gadson sealed the win with an interception and return to the five-yard line. Gollnitz ran it in from 3-yards out for a 29-6 lead.
Jordan Sylvester had a 35 yard return to set up a touchdown run of 3-yards by Gollnitz. Johnathan Flaitz had the extra point kick and the score was 37-6.
Hornell had its first win since taking some players from Arkport and Canaseraga.
There was an exciting halftime at Maple City Park when the Hornell Sports Hall of Fame Selection Committee inducted new members into the prestigious hall.

Jocelyn Acor (Class of 2014) was the first one out followed by Julian Reinhart (2013). Nick Ripple (2000), Sam Stonerock (2011) and Richie Harkenrider (2013) were also honored.
Section V championships, school records and of course football state championships were rolling with the list of accomplishments.
