Sheriff: Bath NY Man arrested for attempted murder

Attempted Murder, Criminal Use of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Menacing Arrest

From the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office,

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on September 27, 2025, Deputies and Investigators of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jason M. Christian, age 39, of Shattuck Road, Bath, New York, following the investigation of a report of a person being shot at during a child custody exchange in the Town of Bath.  It is alleged that Mr. Christian fired multiple rifle rounds at the victim, striking his vehicle, while the victim was inside the vehicle.  Mr. Christian subsequently turned himself in and was charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a class C Felony, Criminal Use of a Firearm in the First Degree, a class B Felony, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a Class E Felony and Menacing in the Second Degree, a class A Misdemeanor.  Mr. Christian was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.

Sheriff Allard thanks the New York State Police and the Canisteo Village Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
