Crews Respond to Widespread Power Outages Across Steuben County

Steuben County, N.Y. – Thousands of residents across Steuben County were left without electricity Sunday afternoon as NYSEG crews worked to restore power following an unconfirmed outage.

According to NYSEG’s online outage map, approximately 2,450 customers lost power on October 19, affecting several towns and villages. The utility company has not yet released details on what caused the disruption.

Areas impacted included

  • Bath
  • Wheeler
  • Urbana
  • Wayne
  • Hammondsport
  • Pulteney

Repair crews were dispatched to the affected areas shortly after reports of the outages began. While NYSEG has not provided an official restoration timeline, the company noted that updates will be posted on its website as assessments continue.

Power has also been reported out in neighboring Schuyler and Chemung counties, though the extent of those outages remains unclear.

NYSEG reminds customers that estimated restoration times can vary as crews investigate the source of the issue and work to bring service back online safely.
