HAWE and the 78 RPM Big Band start at 730pm with original performance

From HAWE,

The Hornell Area Wind Ensemble (HAWE) kicks off their 2025/2026 concert season Saturday, October 25th at 7:30 PM at the Hornell High School Auditorium!  Joining them will be 78 RPM Big Band!  Come join in the festive period music that will surely elevate your sprits and get your toes a tappin!

The first half of the evening’s performance is a piece composed by HAWE’s very own co-director, Mr. Chis Lynn entitled “Antietam.”  Mr. Lynn composed this piece in 2011 and 2012 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the battle, which occurred on September 19th, 1862.  The music and moods of the composition follow one of America’s bloodiest battles in history.

The second half of the evening HAWE will team up with the 78 RPM Big Band with swingin tunes like “Blue Skies,” “Beale Street Blues,” and “In the Mood.”  78 RPM has been performing for over 50 years at numerous events throughout western NY including the Rochester Jazz Festival!

This year’s HAWE celebrates their 40th anniversary and boasts over 70 local musicians from different backgrounds travelling from all parts of Steuben, Allegany, and Livingston counties!  Their directors are Mr. Ed Belin and Mr. Chris Lynn.  As always, every concert is a free and music lovers from all ages are invited and encouraged to attend!

Jot down Saturday – October 25th on your calendar and be prepared to be part of another wonderful evening.  Doors open at 7 PM. Bring your friends!
