The Hornell Area Concern for Youth (HACFY) has recently achieved the milestone of 50 years of service. HACFY has a mission to meet the needs of youth in Hornell and the surrounding areas by providing comprehensive prevention programs. These programs include counseling services, prevention education and activities to help build skills, as well as mentoring programs, and operating youth centers.
HACFY operates two after-school youth centers, one in Canisteo as well as one in the City of Hornell. These centers serve as a safe place for youth to gather with peers, grab a meal, and connect with resources for positive growth and development. Beyond its centers, HACFY works closely with several area schools to deliver prevention education and outreach programs, engaging hundreds of students each month across multiple school districts.
Mayor John Buckley states, “HACFY is a fantastic resource for our youth to provide them with additional support and resources, all while having a good time. I’ve been known to visit and shoot some pool and see the dedication of staff and benefits HACFY offers.” Mayor Buckley further noted, “For HACFY to provide 50 years of service to our community and the surrounding area illustrates astounding commitment to generations in our area. I want to extend my appreciation and gratitude on achieving this milestone and look forward to many more years.”
