By Andrew Harris, image from AccuWeather.com

Winter, still officially weeks away, is giving our region an early taste of snow, wind chills, and closures. Schools, businesses, and non-profit operations like Meals on Wheels have already experienced winter weather related shutdowns. Over a foot of snow is on the ground in many places and many roads have been perilous.

The coldest air of the year is moving into the region today and Friday morning temperatures will be below 10F with wind chills predicted to be pushing ten degrees below zero. Winds are expected to exceed twenty miles per hour this afternoon and evening.

According to AccuWewather.com, temperatures will remain below freezing for much of December and more bitter cold air from artic is expected.
