Canisteo-Greenwood and Alfred-Almond will reign as champions!
A-A’s Steve Donlon honored, celebrates 9th championship

STEUBEN COUNTY- A large, enthusiastic crowd was on hand at Bath Haverling Central School Monday night to take in the 42nd Academic All-Star championships. Of the fifteen teams that competed throughout the six-week season, the top four were honored with trophies for their respective divisions and then faced off for the Small and Large School championship titles.
The first match of the evening was between Jasper-Troupsburg, with coaches Dylan Penner and Riley Hunt, and Alfred-Almond with coach Steve Donlon. Completing a perfect season, Alfred-Almond continued to show their dominance by defeating Jasper-Troupsburg 99 – 36 in order to take home the 2026 Angela R. Karr Small School Championship trophy.

The second match saw the Bath Haverling team, led by coach Kate McKinley, square off against Canisteo-Greenwood, coached by Chris Romanchock. Although Haverling performed admirably, the Canisteo-Greenwood team was on point and won with a score of 71 – 37. They were named the 2026 Janet W. Richardson Large School Champions.

Also presented was the Barbara Fairbanks Service Award, recognizing a person for outstanding work with All-Stars. Alfred-Almond coach, Steve Donlon was honored for his 15 years of serving as advisor as well as coaching his team to 10 Division Championships and 9 Small School titles.
