Op-Ed: Alexandra Fasulo is a “social media con-artist,” paid by fossil fuel industry

Wyoming county environmentalist calls popular influencer a “paid agitator”

A OPINION By Lynn Saxton, Warsaw NY

As an environmentalist, an avid gardener who works with the Village of Warsaw Tree Board and the Oatka Creek Community Garden, and someone who cares deeply about the health of my local ecosystem, I was surprised to read the sensational claims against renewable energy in a recent op-ed: April 9, 2026 Alle-Catt Wind complex will do “daily eagle carcass searches,” and ship dead Bald Eagles to the NYS DEC.

The provocative, click-bait style headline inspired me to investigate further. I was shocked to discover that the author of the op-ed, Alexandra Fasulo, is not a “leading land preservation activist” as her dubiously vague credentials claim, nor does she live in our community. Instead, she’s a social media influencer and paid agitator looking for the next big bucks. She has already cycled through multiple online personas, including freelance writing guru, lifestyle influencer, and now “land preservation activist.”

Fasulo has no formal training in ecology, land management, or environmental science. Outdoor Life reported she admits to not even having gardening experience, yet she makes sweeping claims about land management without any scientific attribution. Her “nonprofit work” has been prominently featured by IW Features, which is a Koch-funded conservative organization that’s also deeply embedded with Project 2025.

She frames New York’s clean energy targets as a government conspiracy to “destroy our land” because that’s the message these fossil fuel affiliated groups pay her to say. She’s doing their bidding, but we don’t need to fall for it.

Renewable energy projects like the Alle-Catt Wind Project bring construction and operations jobs to the area while generating local tax revenue for schools and municipal services. Landowners and farmers are entitled to the revenue from projects like Alle-Catt to help keep family farms afloat. And home-grown wind and solar reduce the exposure to global fuel price swings, something that’s impacting every farmer I know in the area.

I’m deeply offended by this social media con artist whose unsubstantiated op-ed piece has the potential to impact real people’s livelihoods and futures. We shouldn’t let outside social media influencers or individuals with no ties to our land or community tell us what to do.
