The JV Lions turned a rare triple play that saved the game. With no outs, Grover got a strikeout and the ball hit the ground. Johnson tagged the runner going to second out. Meanwhile, the runner who was on second, came all the way around and was about to score when Johnson fired a bullet back to Cook who tagged the runner out at the plate for a triple play.
In the bottom of the 7th with the game tied at 1-1, Zane Bowser reached base and went to third on a groundout by Kniffen Cook. With two outs, Casyn Shay’s infield hit was placed where there was no play and the winning run scored.
Johnson. Mason Cook and Geffers also had hits in the win.
