The victim is recovering after the attack

At just before 1am, a fight started near Hornell hotspot Biggies Tex-Mex Bar and Grill, Stop n Shop, and RBI on River Street. The fight escalated with a knife and Jermaine Hawkins of Hornell stabbed a female victim.
Biggie’s immediately came out with a statement, condemning the violence and promising to “expand our zero tolerance policy” in response. Biggie’s management also thanked the Hornell Police, Hornell Fire Department, and the NYS Police for the professional response to the incident. Today the Hornell Police Department announced the arrest of Hawkins, who committed the crime on a surveillance camera and was located “within minutes,’ according to Chief Murray. Hawkins was charged with 1st degree assault and possession of a weapon in the 4th degree. He was sent to the Steuben County Jail awaiting arraignment according to the police report.
