Hornell City School District residents approved the district’s $49 million budget proposal and elected one board of education member.
Voters approved:
- A $49,897,993 budget for the 2026–27 school year: 206 yes; 157 no;
- Authorization to expend up to $600,000 from the 2017–2027 and 2024–2034 Transportation Reserve Funds to purchase school buses and/or student transportation vehicles by June 30, 2027: 277 yes; 91 no;
- Authorization to establish a 2026–2036 Transportation Reserve Fund, not to exceed $1,000,000, to support the purchase of school buses, transportation vehicles, and related equipment: 261 yes; 87 no;
- Approval of the Hornell Public Library budget in the amount of $454,734: 261 yes; 142 no;
- Authorization to expend $52,234 from the general fund to purchase approximately 12.032 acres of land at Seneca Street – Adsit Maple City Park, including any improvements, for district use: 276 yes; 91 no.
Voters also elected Dr. Uzma Mehr, Ms. Jessica Talbot, and Joe Libert to five-year terms on the Hornell Board of Education, beginning July 1.
Prattsburgh Central School 518 total voters Budget:
Yes – 303, no – 213, void – 2 It does not pass since we needed 311 yes votes for a 60% super majority Laurie MacDougal was elected to a 5-year Board seat
Library budget: Yes – 274, No- 243, Void – 1 This does pass since they only needed the simple majority.
Arkport Central School
Voters approve school budget and buses; Bailey elected to the Board of Education

On May 19, Arkport voters approved a $15.4 million proposed budget for the 2026-27 school year by a vote of 141 (yes) to 74 (no), a 65.6% approval. The budget carries a $342,090.00 decrease in spending over the current year’s budget and will result in a 1.89% tax levy increase, which is within the district’s tax levy limit.
Voters also approved the following propositions;
- Bus Purchase: two 66-passenger diesel buses and one passenger vehicle, by a vote of 155 (yes) to 59 (no).
- Library Levy: approval of a $49,342 levy to support the Arkport Public Library’s 2026-27 budget, by a vote of 139 (yes) to 72 (no).
- One trustee to the Arkport Public Library Board, Rebecca Dennis.
The proposed budget sustains the district’s commitment to strong academic programs, comprehensive student support, and well-maintained facilities, giving every Arkport student the tools and environment they need to succeed.
Board of Education Results
One candidate ran uncontested to fill one open seat on the Board of Education. The vote total is as follows:
- Timothy Bailey – 90
Bailey will fill a five-year term beginning on July 1, 2026.
