“Explore Rooted” Open House planned for August 13th in Belmont

For years I’ve dreamed about creating a place where children could slow down, explore, ask questions, make friends, get muddy, climb trees, and truly belong in nature.
This fall, Rooted in Nature NY is offering opportunities for children and families to slow down, explore, and connect with the natural world through child-led, nature-based learning.
When many families first hear about Forest School, they picture children making fairy houses, identifying trees, or completing nature crafts. Sometimes they do. But they’re only a small part of the story.
Forest School is so much more than that.
It’s climbing over logs, following curiosity, solving problems, telling stories around a campfire, discovering wildlife, and finding confidence through meaningful challenges.
Every child follows a different path, and as children grow, the adventures and challenges grow with them.
Join us for a free family evening on to experience what Rooted is all about.
Explore Rooted is a relaxed opportunity to meet Rebecca, explore our forest learning space, and experience the slower pace of Forest School.
Children are free to play, discover, and follow their curiosity while parents learn about our philosophy, ask questions, and connect with other families.
There isn’t a busy schedule or a formal presentation—just time to slow down, explore, and experience the rhythm of Forest School together. We’ll gather briefly to introduce ourselves and answer questions before spending the rest of our time simply enjoying the woods.

Wear clothes that can get muddy, dress for the weather, and come ready to enjoy the outdoors together.
If you decide Rooted is a good fit for your family, you’ll complete the Annual Family Registration before
enrolling in a program.

Meet Rebecca:
Some of my favorite childhood memories are climbing trees with my
sister, building bridges, getting lost for hours on hikes, and planning our
someday-club house. We travelled a lot as a family and I developed a
love for adventure, seeing beautiful sights, and in a word: Nature. I have
made a point to pass on this love of adventure and thirst for wonder to
my children. I see the peace that being in nature brings me and my
children, and hope to give that realization of peace to others.
Today, I’m a New York State certified teacher and Certified Forest
School Director, but my favorite classroom has always been outside.
Whether we’re climbing over logs, reading stories beneath the trees, or
simply slowing down enough to notice a salamander, I believe children
learn best when they’re given the freedom to wonder.
