Caroline B. Arnold – 76 – of South Main St., Belfast, NY, died Monday morning (September 7, 2026) at St. James Hospital, following a long illness.
Born in England on March 17, 1950, she was the daughter of Philip & Angela (Griffith) Olsen.
Caroline grew up in England and moved to the United States in 1972 at the age of twenty-two. For about 10 years she lived in Georgia and in 1982 moved to New York State settling in Allegany County. Throughout the years she resided in several locations, including Friendship, Scio, Richburg, Caneadea (26 years) and has lived in Belfast for the past 11 years.
An avid reader, Caroline especially enjoyed reading Stephen King novels. She loved learning new things along with basic trivia. She also enjoyed spending her time knitting, gardening & painting (watercolors).
Caroline loved spending time in the kitchen baking cakes, pies, cookies & desserts. She also loved making her own recipes and was famous for her Chocolate Cherry Cake. She also was an animal lover who, throughout the years, loved & cared for many dogs & cats.
She was married on August 31, 1991 to Maurice Arnold with whom she was “together” for 16 years prior to getting married. They have been a loving couple for the past 51 years.
Surviving are her husband, Maurice; her children, Caroline, Simon & Danny and her daughter, Marie Arnold of Belfast; her grandson, Colton D. Morgan of Belfast.
At Caroline’s request there will be no calling hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.
Caroline’s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to the Hornell Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, NY 14843.
