You might have read about my personal experience with Amber Schuson of Compassionate Healing Arts in Wellsville. If not, it gives a pretty good primer on what Reiki healing is, and what that experience is like with Amber in her downtown studio.

My old pal Kay Eicher read about my “receiving the Reiki” after a leg injury and gave it a try to help with some discomfort. While she was a little skeptical, as would be expected with any alternative healing, Kay made an appointment and gave Amber a try.

“As far as Reiki goes—over the years I’ve tried regular massage, reflexology, chiropractic and acupuncture with varying results.  Sometime during this past winter I started having pain in my right hip.  It seemed like it was probably muscular.  At least I hoped so because hip issues and replacement are not on my list!  I tried changing where I sat in the evening by putting a firm pillow behind my back on the sofa.  Then I switched to a firmer more upright chair.  Some relief but not really consistent.  Ten I read your article about Reiki in the Sun!  After thinking about it for several weeks I called Amber and made my first appointment.”

Kay booked a session with Amber and went into the experience with an open mind. She was hopeful, but skeptical, but her appointment was dreamy:

“Amber made me feel comfortable right from the beginning.  She was very good about explaining what she was doing as she went through the session.  It was very relaxing and the hour passed amazingly quickly.  So—with no expectations—I was amazed when I got up from the massage table and walked over to a chair to make my next appointment and realized that the pain was completely gone!!  I’ve had 2 more sessions and that pain has only recurred on a couple of occasions when I’d been on my feet too long and have overdone it. I’m still amazed at the benefits and grateful for the decrease in pain.”

Since that session at Compassionate Healing Arts, Eicher has been singing Amber’s praises to anyone who will listen. She knows that many endure pain that can’t fixed with traditional methods and they don’t want to general numbing of pain relievers.

Amber is great to work with.  She’s empathetic and compassionate.  She also has a deep belief in Reiki and what it/she can do to help her clients.  I’ve been recommending her and Reiki to almost anyone who will listen.  I believe it’s important for people to keep an open mind when making decisions about your health care.  I wouldn’t put Reiki (or any other alternative practice) in place of traditional medicine but as a positive supplement it can be beneficial.  I know it’s helped me.

As she works on me I can actually feel my heart rate slow as I relax. Also, during today’s session—at one point it seemed that she was getting ready to finish and I thought “Oh, please keep going! This is so relaxing.”

Since I know how helpful it’s been for me, I am happy to have Amber right here in Wellsville.
