Get out and vote Bruce Blakeman for Governor, Nick Langworthy for Congress

By Joan Pingitore, Allegany NY

I am a retired, average American citizen who has lived in New York State all my life. For many years, I considered it a wonderful state and a great place to raise a family. I enjoyed the beauty, peacefulness, and affordability that New York once offered.
I have asked for nothing more than the freedom to live my life, an affordable place to live, and some peace of mind.

Unfortunately, what has happened to our state over the past several years has taken much of that away. We have seen increasing restrictions on many aspects of our daily lives, while the cost of living has become increasingly difficult for working families, seniors, and small businesses to manage. At the same time, many New Yorkers are living with tremendous stress and uncertainty about what will happen next.

I believe our current governor bears significant responsibility for many of these problems and has made decisions that have negatively affected our state. However, we now have an opportunity for new leadership—leadership that can work to make New York affordable, safe, prosperous, and once again a comfortable place to call home.

Bruce Blakeman is running for governor against Kathy Hochul with a platform focused on making meaningful changes to New York. As the current Nassau County Executive, he has demonstrated that he can set goals and work to accomplish them through the changes he has implemented in Nassau County.

Some of his key proposals include:
• Making New York more affordable for working families, seniors, and small businesses.
• Reducing our high taxes and easing the financial burden on New Yorkers.
• Lowering the cost of electricity. New York has some of the highest electricity costs in the country, affecting families, farmers, manufacturers, restaurants, and small businesses alike.
• Reducing government waste, bloat, and inefficiency by controlling government spending and helping bring down the costs that contribute to our high cost of living.
• Strengthening law enforcement and supporting public safety after years of reductions that many believe have contributed to New York becoming a less safe place to live.
• Protecting parents’ rights and giving parents a stronger voice in their children’s education.
• Increasing immigration enforcement with an emphasis on public safety and enforcing our laws.

The message is straightforward: Bruce Blakeman is running with a commitment to make New York more affordable, more competitive, safer, and a better place to live, work, and raise a family.

We should also recognize the work of our current Congressman, Nick Langworthy, who has been working to improve conditions throughout our region and across New York State. He travels throughout the counties he represents and meets with farmers, business owners, tradespeople, and even aviation leaders to learn firsthand where improvements are needed.

Among his accomplishments are:
• Securing more than $76 million for rural health care.
• Helping secure a $70,000 Appalachian Regional Commission grant for the Olean Skilled Trades Accelerator.
• Helping secure $5.7 million in FAA funding for improvements at Jamestown Airport.
• Working to protect the interests of farmers and bring federal assistance and resources to New York’s agricultural communities.

These are the kinds of efforts we need to support if we want to address the difficult challenges facing our state.
New York has tremendous potential. We have hardworking families, farmers, small-business owners, trades people, and communities that deserve the opportunity to thrive without being overwhelmed by excessive taxes, regulations, rising costs, and uncertainty.

We need to get out and vote. We need to support the candidates who are committed to making New York more affordable, safer, and more prosperous. And when you vote, consider supporting candidates who share these goals at every level of government.
If we want to restore New York to a place where people can afford to live, raise their families, build businesses, and enjoy the freedom and peace of mind they deserve, the time to make our voices heard is now.

Other candidates to vote for that will fight for these goals to strengthen NY State: Tood Hood for Lieutenant Governor, Joseph Hernandez for Comptroller, Saritha Komatireddy for Attorney General (against Letitia James) , George Borrello for Senate, Joseph Sempolinski for Assembly, and for Supreme Court- Jon Hickey, Bob Richardson and Deanne Tripi.

Get out and vote, it will make a difference! Let’s work together to make New York a great place to live once again.
